The MVVM Pattern

February 20, 2010 1 comment

At my work we have been using the MVVM pattern for a while. My feeling has been that

  1. I have not understood it fully
  2. The pattern is not as clear as it has been presented for me
  3. A mixture of 1 and 2

Today I decided to gain some more knowledge about the subject. Here is a dump of links on the topic that I read through:

I do like John Gossmans post that states:

“My team has been using the pattern feverishly for a couple of years, and we still don’t have a clean definition of the term ViewModel”.

I conclude that suspicion two was right. (If two is right I guess that implies that even one and three holds true but anyway…)

Axum samples

February 18, 2010 Leave a comment

Matthew Podwysocki has posted sample code for Axum (in the form of a ping pong sample) which I played with today. Good stuff. First version of ping pong and Second version of ping pong. The second post also includes an interesting comparison with a ping pong code snippet implemented using F# mailbox processing.

Axum

I took a brief look at Axum today. According to the project page, “Axum is a language that builds upon the architecture of the Web and principles of isolation, actors, and message-passing to increase application safety, responsiveness, scalability, and developer productivity”. It looks exiting and I installed it and promised myself to give it a try some day soon.
